THE STANDARD GUIDE SET FOR PANTONE SOLID COLOURS

First introduced as the Designer Edition Guide a few years ago, this three-guide set is firmly established as the preferred choice. The latest editions are 20% larger, so you get bigger areas of PANTONE Colours, for easier reference and comparison with samples.

These guides set the standards used by designers and printers throughout the world, to select, specify and communicate solid colours. Each of the three guides shows accurately printed samples of the 1,114 PANTONE Solid Colours, with separate guides for coated, uncoated and matte paper stocks.

An accurate sample of each colour is printed, together with the identifying PANTONE Number, and mixing formula. New features include icons to show which colours will reproduce well in four colour process (see also the PANTONE COLOR BRIDGE™).

PANTONE FORMULA GUIDE

The original PANTONE FORMULA GUIDES were printed onto coated and uncoated paper stocks, then bound together into a single guide. The new edition is 20% larger, and uses heavier gauge paper, so is now presented as two separate guides, each showing the 1,114 PANTONE Solid Colours, one for coated paper stock and one for uncoated.

This two guide set contains all the colours in the three guide set, at a more economical price - but you don't get the matte coated version.

To mix inks to match these PANTONE Colours, we recommend that you use the PANTONE Formula Scales, and join thousands of other satisfied customers throughout the world. The scales are ready programmed with all of the formulae given in the guides, and make light work of accurate colour mixes.

NEW CONVENIENT GUIDE FORMAT

When you are using a solid PANTONE Colour, you may be able to greatly enhance the design by printing tints of that colour, at little or no extra cost.

The PANTONE TINTS four guide set shows 1,114 PANTONE solid colours, each printed with eight tints per colour from 10% to 80%, in 10% steps. Each tint shows the text effects of solid overprinting, reverse type and black overprinting. Every colour also includes a halftone example. Each page of the guides has illustrations of two PANTONE Colours, side by side.

This publication is now supplied in a a four guide format, with larger printed areas on brighter papers. The tint effects are shown in two guides are on coated stock, and again in a further two guides on uncoated stock. Besides being more convenient to handle, the new guide format allows bleed to the edge of the paper for easier press checking.

To measure tints of PANTONE Colours, you can use one of our range of Colour Reflection Densitometers.

PANTONE COLOR BRIDGE™ coated

PANTONE COLOR BRIDGE
coatedThis is the latest version of a popular guide - previously called the PANTONE Solid to Process Guide and originally known as the PANTONE Process Color Imaging Guide.

Now called the PANTONE COLOR BRIDGE™ coated, with 20% larger colour samples, it shows solid PANTONE Colours alongside improved matches using four-colour process printing. The fan guide format displays 1,089 solid PANTONE Colours on coated paper stock. As an aid to printing, the CMYK screen values used are provided for each colour. The guide also gives information about the screen angles used and print order - both of which can subtly affect the colour.

In addition, the PANTONE colour bridge guide gives HTML values to use when putting PANTONE colours on the internet, and sRGB values for driving monitors.

The Euro Edition has been produced using European inks and processing, with all of the colours digitally matched for the greatest possible accuracy.

Use the guide to determine whether a four colour simulation of a solid PANTONE Colour will be acceptable. You should check the match using more than one light source, such as those provided by the Agile Radiant Colour Viewing Cabinets, as they are likely to be metameric. It's much better to find out before you print than later when the client complains about the colour match!

Please Note: The screen values provided in design software are likely to be different, based on US processing, and may be out of date. For greatest accuracy, use the European values contained in this guide.
